what kind of asshole steals library books?
Okay, so, what the fuck? Someone keeps taking all the books I want out of the library and then not returning them. Every time I search for something, it comes up as
status: missing. Which is not cool at ALL because I am a poor, poor college student and as much as I would like to, I cannot afford to buy book at this time, so god-fucking-dammit just return the books so I can get my fix already! Jesus. Seriously, if I ever find out who this motherfucking is they're going to get the most heinous (but righteous!) smiting that this fair planet has ever had the grim displeasure to behold. Except it won't be grim for me. It will be glorious and satisfying. Because guess what, slimy book-stealing person? You suck like a two dollar whore.
I'm a little cranky right now, I'll admit. It's freezing cold in my apartment despite the supposedly functioning heat, it's snowing and also supposed to snow tomorrow, thereby jeopardizing the only non-Adam visit I'm likely to get in the next four months (Joe and Joe are supposed to come down), and I am very quickly running out of money and have run across depressingly few job opportunities. Panera Bread is hiring, but that's out for two reasons - I applied once back home and was told that I'd have to take my piercings out, which is not going to happen, and have you seen that place when it gets crowded? No f-ing way. My time at Bagel Lovers wasn't too bad because it never got super, super crowded. Mostly just state workers coming in for lunch. No big. But Panera Bread at lunch (or dinner, for that matter) is a madhouse the likes of which I do not think my people-hating little heart could survive. The only other option at this point is the Warehouse Market, which could work, but... eh. I need to go out and actually do a little searching, see if Jo-Ann's is hiring, or Starbucks, or anywhere that isn't huge and/or a scarily popular lunch establishment. Also, my financial aid needs to come in now. Thanks.
And to add another notch to the cranky belt, tomorrow is Adam and I's 50th monthiversary and I'm not going to see him at all. He was scheduled to work in the morning, but then found someone to cover his house... except that bastard backed out and he had to leave tonight because now he has to be at work at 9 o' clock. GRRR. So very disappointing. Not the fact that he has to work, because hey, not much can be done about that, but the fact that I thought he was going to be able to stay but then he wasn't. I wouldn't care as much if I hadn't gotten my hopes up, is what I'm saying. And they were valid hopes for once! Which is just... ugh, so very much how my life works.
On the plus side, I got to hang out with my dad on Friday AND I got the cutest haircut ever. My hair is so much better when it's shorter. I need to remember this feeling of adoring what is on my head. It happens so rarely, because I can't afford very frequent haircuts and eventually the adorably voluminous short cut grows out into a limp, stringy sheet of badness that cries out desperately to be hacked off into its former glory. So, note to self: spare some unnecessary expense ever two months or so and get your damn hair trimmed. There's no reason to let it grow out about 5 inches before getting it cut. And yes, my hair does grow very quickly. In the 6 months or so since I had my hair cut last, it probably grew 4 or 5 inches. Considering that the usual growth rate is 1/2 an inch per month, just hand me a sombrero and call me Speedy Gonzalez. My hairdresser commented on it, actually - she said I must get a lot of good protein in my diet for my hair to grow so quickly. It's true, and I find that amusing considering that I'm now vegan and was vegetarian for 8 1/2 years previously and the most common comment from meat-eaters is definitely, "Where do you get your protein?"
My nails are the same way - clear, hard, and they grow like weeds. It's kind of annoying, but only because I need to keep them short to play the guitar and so I'm clipping away like every other night.
Anyway, cute hair. Very, very cute hair that I love like mad. Other high points of this weekend include delicious fresh pineapple, finally catching grapes on sale, finding Tofutti Cuties at Rhubarb's, starting in on Season 2 of Buffy with Cassie, getting in my 3rd jog of the week this morning, feeding the birds at Long's park after said jog, and spending quality time with Adam. I'm especially proud of myself about the jogging, since it was cold as anything when we headed out to the park (26 or so, I think) and when we got there I wasn't sure whether I wanted to run or not, but I did anyway and it was great. I did about 5 minutes more than last time and felt very accomplished. And afterward Adam and I fed an entire loaf of bread to the birds, which is always fun.
Except this time there were seagulls present, and holy mother of fucking christ are those things annoying. We were trying to feed two special birds a bit more than the others - the duck with the lame foot and this one Canadian goose who is missing about half his bill, so his tongue is always sticking out - and the damn seagulls kept swooping in like grubby kids after a piata breaks open. Gah. But we managed to feed a few pieces of bread exclusively to the goose with the half-bill, and I got a bunch of bread to the lame duck before the seagulls got so annoying and distracting that I lost sight of him and after that I couldn't tell where he was. There was also an issue with these giant geese who are obviously the Kings of the Lake and just a little bit scary when they get all up in your stuff while your sneakers are sinking into a pool of mud, but we escaped unharmed (if not exactly clean) and all the birds got some grub, so overall it was a success.
I think that's it for me tonight. Be good, kids, and keep your fingers crossed for fair weather come morning.
