wrecking balls and early rising
So I come back from work to find the door locked, and my heart leaps into the air and starts to sing like Julie Andrews in
The Sound of Music at the thought of having the room the myself for more than 15 seconds. I dump my coat on the bed, fill out my timesheet, and start to unhook the DVD player. Because it's moving back into Adam's room as soon as is humanly possible. Three seconds after I pull the plug out of the power bar, there's a knock at the door. Who could it be, oh all-knowing diary of mine? Emily, of course. My heart was violently yanked out of its reverie and thrown against the pavement until it started to ooze something black. As I write this, she's watching Jerry Springer and doing something new and, I'm sure, even more hideous to her wall. Fun times at Chez Lemon, yo. Fun like being beaten with a wrecking ball, only that would probably be less painful.
Oh, my mistake. Maybe she's not doing something to her wall. Maybe she's picking out skimpy clothes to wear for Goth Boy tonight. Either way, my eyes have turned in their resignation and are halfway to Acapulco. Enjoy something fruity and non-alcoholic for me, guys. Preferably something with a little paper umbrella and a thick, striped straw.
I woke up at 6:15 this morning, for reasons that I don't quite understand. I laid in bed until 6:40, when it became evident that I wasn't getting back to sleep, and then took a shower and stuff. I was actually ready on time for once (early, even), so Adam and I went to breakfast before class instead of after. Breakfast: Cookie Crisp cereal. I never thought I'd like that stuff, but there you go. Stranger things have happened. Like fancy hairless rats in wigs and diamond necklaces breaking into a pet store to free their less fortunate, cruelly imprisoned kin. Now there's a news story I'd take the time to read.
After class, we went to the Financial Aid office to do several things that I've been putting off for weeks. I informed them of my address change, and asked about paperwork for my assistant gig. I had to go see about four different people before I got it all straightened out, but now I've got a bunch of papers to fill out and some forms of ID to photocopy and a timesheet to have signed and turn in. Woo-ha.
My mom is coming to pick me up in an hour or so for the first (and hopefully only) round of paint shopping. I think I have my colors worked out... the combination I chose appeals to me, but at the same time it looks weird. Whenever I try to pick other colors, though, they just don't do it for me. So the weird combo wins, I guess. I also need to do some begging, because I have nine dollars and some change to my name. With Valentine's Day fast approaching, this is no good.
In other news, my hats came today. They're very cute, but too big for my head. As such, they look funny on me. I'm sort of disappointed, but there's not much I can do about it. Hrm. Maybe I can just get used to impaired vision and looking like a doofus. Oh, wait, no need to get used to that.
Gah. I'm going to go draw or something until Adam gets back from class, because I'm incredibly bored with the online situation right now. It's all I ever get to do when I'm in my room, because the only other option is to sit on my bed and watch Jerry Springer or observe Emily and Goth Boy doing whatever it is that they do together. I'd provide specifics, but I try my hardest to block these things out. You understand.
