The Naughty Adventure of the 15-Pound, 3-Fingered Ball
Wow. Saturday was quite a day, man. Quite a day indeed. It was the open house at PCA&D, for one thing - and I'm
so glad we went. I wasn't too thrilled to begin with, because I had to get up at 7 o' clock in the morning, and I was nervous about my portfolio, and so on and so forth. But it ended up being a really good thing. The school is great, Lancaster is cool, and my portfolio review went swimmingly.
I was a little surprised by that last part, but of course very pleased. I was afraid I had too much of one medium (charcoal), too many digital works, etc. But the woman I had my review with really seemed positive about all of my stuff, and that everything looked great and she would accept it. I'm assuming that's good. It was kind of funny, because when I first starting pulling things out (the charcoal self-portraits) she assumed I was going into Fine Art. When I told her that I would probably end up in Graphic Design, she was surprised. She said that her second guess was Illustration. Hrm. I don't now, I never would have even thought that I could possibly in a billion years make it in a Fine Art major. Illustration is sort of tied with Graphic Design, but I think I'll end up leaning toward the latter. I saw a display of packaging design projects and got all giddy, so... yeah. I don't think I could make it as an illustrator, anyway. It's mostly freelance, so you have to be good at selling yourself, which I'm totally not. And I don't have a good style for it. Bah. Anyway, it went well. She really liked the pirate turtle and the sad panda, which just makes me insanely happy because I actually love those little guys. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's because they're not posted here. Check out my DeviantArt gallery to see them.)
My interview is scheduled for Tuesday at 3, over the phone. I'm a little scared of that, because I sound like a doofus on the phone and that's not exactly the image I'd like to convey. But barring any unforeseen circumstances or incredible acts of over-the-phone idiocy on my part, I should get in. I hope.
Squeee! There. I had to do it.
Later, we went bowling with the Joes. It was a good time, mostly, except that a) I really suck, and b) when did bowling get so damn expensive? Seriously. It was almost 30 bucks for three games and a shoe rental. Whatever. And then during our third game, while we were sitting around discussing politics, a group of scary rednecks parked themselves at the lane next to ours. They were very frightening. I wouldn't be surprised if they were all closet KKK members. That put the proverbial kibosh on our Georgie bashing, so we finished up and left. I believe my highest score was a pathetic 72 - my lowest was like 36. Ugh. But I had really cute shoes, so I guess it all worked out.
Then I went to Wal-Mart with Joe and Joe to pick out paint colors. We ended up with Pink Vanilla, Chive, and some light blue that I can't remember the name of. They're nice colors. The paint cards make me happy.
Anyway, kids, I'm starving, so I'm going to go forage for yummies. I'll update later with something that's not entirely a day-log.
Until then - carry on.
