episode #861, in which all I talk about is knitting
Dude. I am SO going to have a Gryffindor scarf by the end of next week. Observe the swatch:
Isn't that hot? And I didn't fuck anything up this time, either. No dropped stitches, no twisted badness.. and I got the gauge right on the first try. Don't mind the wackiness on the ends; it keeps the swatch from being all rolled-up and weird.
I'm so proud of myself. Weee!
But yeah, I'm definitely going to have this thing done in the next few weeks (hopefully sooner), and then I'm going to wear it with my Harry Potter shirt and just look around and be all... "I am so much cooler than all of you. I rock, and you suck. Get thee to peon-ville, maggots!"
Ahem. I'm very excited. Could you tell? Yeah. I got my 16'' circular needles this afternoon, obviously. I also got stitch markers, which are still a bit of a mystery to me, and a ball of somewhat soft yarn in a very nice shade of blue to make a hat with after I finish up the scarf. Ben Franklin is my god right now, because they had all of the things that Michael's didn't. Namely, a sort of decent selection of yarn and needles. As soon as I have more money, I'll need to be restrained. Seriously. I'm the biggest packrat in the entire known universe, and the idea of hoarding endless balls of yarn in pretty colors and textures makes me salivate.
Anyway... other than exciting (to me) knitting stuff, today has been pretty uneventful. But somewhat productive, I guess, since I finished two pages of my English paper. Two or three more tomorrow and then I'm all set for Thursday. I told my parents that I pretty definitely want to apply to PSA&D, so we're going to fill out the renewal FAFSA over easter break. Eep. I need to get my butt in gear with the portfolio thing immediately. I have lots of ideas, just not enough time/space/talent/money/motivation to churn them out. And besides, right now I'm all about the knitting. What is this DRAWING? Scratching paper with graphite? Feh! Give me yarn or give me death!
Yeah. I'm sure I'll even out sometime soon, after developing premature arthritis due to the massive size of the HP scarf. It's going to be gigantic, man. If I were many pounds lighter, I'd be able to wear it as a shirt or something.
Avast, ye matey, I'm off to start The Scarf. Wish me luck!
