eternal sunshine of the pop-culture rotted mind
Adam and I went to see
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tonight. It was interesting. I enjoyed it. I covet Kate Winslet's hair (all 5 or 6 shades of it); but Kate Winslet pretty much rocks altogether, so no big surprise there.
I made roasted chickpeas today. They were ick-tastic. But the experiment only cost 47 cents, so no harm done.
I'm going to take Joe to the Colonial Yarn Shop tomorrow, so that he can experience the joys of lovely, soft fiber goodness. I taught him the basics of knitting earlier this week, and he picked it up pretty quickly; I have to show him how to purl, and probably a repeat lesson on binding off, but otherwise he's in a good place to start his first project. Probably a scarf, even though it's going to start heating up here soon. What are you going to do? There aren't too many summer-friendly knit items. Especially of the "plain rectangle" variety.
Knitting is really more of a winter activity, when it comes down to it.
After Eternal Sunshine, I came home and watched my tape of tonight's new Tru Calling. And you know what? It was actually pretty good. I've noticed the writing getting better - the dialogue still make me cringe a bit sometimes, but there's a lot less outright weeping. And interesting twists! What with the college girl (who, by the way, played wannabe-slayer Annabelle on Buffy - I am a MACHINE at spotting this shit) dying anyway, and Jack going all creepy necrophile. I'm genuinely interested. It gives me hope, and yet also puts the fear of FOX in me. Because I sort of want it to be picked up for a second season now, as much as I never thought I'd say that. And since I want it renewed, it's almost sure to be cancelled. FOX is a barrel of fun like that.
Yes, I'm still bitter about Wonderfalls. Thanks for asking.
I am also aware that I talk about TV too much, especially considering that I really don't watch much TV - only four shows on a regular basis. But I tend to get overly involved with the stuff I do watch, so I feel compelled to talk about it with my friendly neighborhood Little White Box. It's sad, I know. But be glad - it's sparing you tittilating tales of my jog this morning. Ooh mama, now there's something exciting.
Uh huh. Anyway, it's bed time. I want to get up before 11. I'm going to put my alarm clock across the room so that I actually have to get out of bed to turn it off, instead of just flipping the off switch in my sleep like I do now. Hopefully that'll help. If not, well... no one will be terribly surprised.
