endangered roller mating in progress
And so the dry spell comes to an end. It's nice to be back online. It gives me something to do on the long, lonely nights that I'm stuck here at home. Which would, of course, be every night. Adam and I spent the afternoon and most of the evening finishing up the dreadful paint job in my room. It's not fully coated with an interesting shade of apple green, which I like more now than I did when it was a work in progress. I'm going to leave most of the trim white and just paint the window panes red, because I think that painting all of the trim stuff red would make it look like a clown exploded in my bedroom. That's not quite the look I'm going for.
We also assembled the little desk-in-a-box that my mom and I picked up at Office Depot this afternoon. It's nice - I'm using it right now, in fact. Now that the room is painted, I can actually start moving into it. However, the fact remains that I'd like to exit it as soon as I possibly can. It's a bit of a personal conflict.
I've been scouring the classifieds every day in order to begin on my path to independent living. Thus far I've called two places and sent a resume and a "letter of inquiry" to another. I've heard back from not a one of them, but no matter. There are many opportunities for people such as myself, who have a burning desire to do secretarial work. Dr. Pettice told me to try to find some kind of writing job; she promised me a glowing letter of recommendation if I happened upon one. I'll definitely miss that lady. She's awesome. In fact, I think I'm going to email her when I finish this and say, "Hello! You're awesome. What did you think of Angel's finale?"
We talked Buffy and Angel a lot. The fact that she's a college professor who likes to talk about Buffy and Angel in a non-insulting fashion just makes her all the more fantastic.
Hrm. I finished my second attempt at the knitted hat for my dad. It's still WAY too small. I don't know what the deal is, if I just knit too tightly or if I have a humongous head or what, but this one would just fit a slightly less premature baby. It's a travesty, really. And a stupendous waste of yarn. It's a good thing I got my four balls of GGH Aspen in the mail today - otherwise I'd be very sad. It's nice yarn, especially for the deeply discounted price I paid. It'll be a good purse, I think. If my mom doesn't like it then I'll just keep it for myself or possibly gift Amanda with it. So there.
I tried the new, "only available summer 2003!" Mountain Dew LiveWire tonight. The verdict: don't buy it. It's Orange Slice in a Mountain Dew bottle. I'm all about the recycling, in as much as I can be without actually doing it (my neighborhood doesn't), but this is just ridiculous.
Anyway, I'm going to run downstairs and grab my chocolate marshmallow ice cream cup out of the freezer and then settle in for an evening of catching up on all the various site updates that I've missed out on. It'll be good times.
