back in action
Oh my GOD, is it good to be home. We left Topsail Island, North Carolina at approximately 5 p.m. yesterday afternoon. Mason and I arrived home in Dauphin around 6 o' clock this morning. Yeah, a 13-hour drive. I got about 2 hours of sleep in pieces while my dad drove. Adam (brother, of course) had his big-ass stereo behind the passenger seat because it wouldn't fit in the van, which prevented me from putting the seat back at all. So I had to sort of sleep upright, curled up a bit in the seat. Hello, was it ever uncomfortable. My talent for sleeping anywhere, in any position and under any circumstances, really came in handy. Although not too much, obviously, since I've been up for about 24 hours, in the car for 13 of those, actually driving for 9, and yet have only slept for maybe 120 minutes total.
I am bone-tired. I want to collapse on my comparatively very comfortable bed and sleep for hours and hours. But I'm not, for some reason. Mostly because all of my crap is piled up on the bed, but also I just didn't feel like it when I got home. It was morning. I was up, up, up. But now I'm dragging hard. Urg. And Adam is coming over in about two hours, so... must stay awake. Must!
But anyway, hello. I'm back, obviously. It was a good time, but I'm glad to be home. The house was an excellent A-frame (fyi: I lurrrve A-frames), a fairly empty beach, and an exceptionally warm ocean. It was also, however, lots of people all the time, and lots of food (also all the time), and lots of hot and unfamiliar things. I had fun - swam in the ocean, got something resembling a tan, finished 1984, got some knitting done. But toward the end I was wishing for my little room, and oh, it's heavenly. And it's only going to get up to like 80 today! It was freakin' 97 in the shade every day down there, so 80 at mid-day is a welcome respite.
I'll talk more about the trip later, and post some pictures and stuff, but in other news: I have a kitten! A wee little grey baby kitty with white feet and a white spot on her chest and a white stripe down the center of her nose. She's CUTE. I need to get some pictures of her at some point today, and when I do I'll post them. Because who doesn't want to see pictures of a kitten? Seriously.
Mason wants to name her Smokey, if you care. I kind of want to call her Amelia, but I lose because I've named pretty much all of our cats. So, it looks like Smokey will be the name of the new addition. Meh.
SO tired. More later.
