the main ingredient in kittens is... cute
So I got up at 6 this morning to go root through other people's discarded things in search of... well, whatever. It was interesting. Kind of fruitless, but I imagine you need to do this sort of thing consistently to find the really good stuff. I ended up with a book, two ties, a green fondue set with forks, three yellow plates, and two green bowls for a grand total of $12.50. Not bad, considering. Joe and Joe made out like thieves, though. They got an ENTIRE set of dishware (big plates, little plates, mugs, saucers - the whole shebang) for 10 bucks. And an ice cream machine, and 10 glass tumblers for a dollar, and two stuffed dinosaurs for Jupiter, and 3 wall shelves, and a giant,
functional Zippo lighter, and some big fan thing for their attic, and some vent cover thingies, and some baby clothes for friends' children, and a few books, and a briefcase thing of some kind, and this neat two-dish serving stand. Ooh, and a giant cigar to go with the giant Zippo. Seriously, they got a ton of stuff. My backseat was packed.
And then we went to the Gingerbread Man and ate way too much kind of crappy food. I'd never been to the G-Man (as it is so affectionately known around here) before, and now that I have I don't think I'll be going back. There were like three vegetarian selections on the entire menu, one of which was a mushroom sandwich. The other was a salad, and then there was the veggie quesadilla that I got. It sucked. Joe liked it, but... ugh. No. We ordered dessert, too, which was no better. I mean, it was better, but not, you know... BETTER. It was phenomenal or anything. I sat there afterward and was like, "Why the fuck did I just eat all that crap?" So now I'm kind of mad at myself. I should have done what I wanted to do originally and just gone to McDonald's for a fruit and yogurt parfait. Because those? Are just yummy.
Now I'm back at home (obviously), and waiting for someone to call me. Anyone, really. Well, one of two people, anyway. Either Joe or Adam. When Joe calls it will be time to go jogging. When Adam calls I can ask him if he wants to hang out at Joe's tonight after he gets off of work. They're having Amber and another friend of theirs over, and since we were probably just going to rent a movie I figured it might be an alternative. We shall see.
More later. Right now Amelia is sleeping on my bed, and I can't resist going over and poking her tummy. Or, you know, petting her. Either way.
