episode #566, in which I write from my dorm room
So hi. I'm reporting live from Annville, PA - room #105, in fact. It's weird. Kind of cool, very scary, but generally just weird. My roommate isn't what I was expecting, but she seems all right. Everything went really smoothly this morning, probably due to the fact that we had 4 people unloading stuff. It only took about 20 minutes. I'm basically done unpacking and setting up and whatnot, except for my shower stuff and a few other things. Now everyone is gone, and I thought I'd write before I have to go meet with my peer advisor again.
My mom was crying when she left. It was an odd moment. I guess this is even weirder for them than it is for me, really. Hmm.
As I was unpacking my books this afternoon (my textbooks, not my personal books) I noticed that some of them actually look really interesting. All of the anthropology ones, of course, and one of the digicom (digital communications) books. Yay for interesting classes. And here's a fun thing - I have a class with Adam. Statistics. Heh. Good, he can help me with foul math stuff.
Ooh! I found out the weirdest things this afternoon. My older brother Jobe once worked at the Rennaisance Faire. He also once tried out for the American Gladiators. Remember that show? Yeah, he tried out for that. He didn't make it, though. Sad. I giggled when I heard those things. I wonder what other amusing gems are buried beneath the sex, drugs, and jail history of my family.
I'm having some serious Lisa Loeb love. This CD, her newest, is really good. So is Tails. And so is Firecracker, though that's my least favorite. Ah. Yum. Good music. And also, she's just so damn cute.
This high-speed connection thing is great. Woo for high-speed internet. It's almost scary in comparison to my wimpy 26.4 AOL connection at home. I'm going to go read lots of Buffy recaps and then go do whatever I have to do. I'll write later, no doubt.
