gorillas are for eating
So... new layout and stuff. I like it, but I think the left-hand column needs to be smaller. Either that or I need to stick more text/distractions in there, because it's looking very big and lonely. In any case, voila! A Rilo Kiley layout. 'Cause I love 'em, and so should you.
I'm not in the best of spirits right now. I'm not entirely sure why, but I'm just... not. Today was my first real day of school, with Graphic Technology (my only sophomore-level class) from 9-4. The whole eternities-long class thing wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Actually, it wasn't even as bad as the 4-hour ones I had at HACC. So I guess that's a good sign, at least. We went over lots of stuff, took a break for lunch, and then went back for some more reviewing and explaining and talking about the first project. It's All Macs, All The Time at PCA&D, which was a tad unfamiliar, but I got the hand of things pretty quickly and am now madly in love with the very graphic, iconic setup of OS10. Me want.
Our first project is a very simple, black and white, half-fold menu for a restaurant of our choosing and/or creation. The lack of color bugs, but otherwise I'm liking the process. I knew one person in class - this girl named Gretchen that I met at orientation. She's fun, but I'm not sure we'll end up as anything but school acquaintances. I've actually met and communicated with 5 people so far, and I'm hoping that at least one of these becomes something resembling a real live friendship, with the whole hanging out when not in the classroom thing. Imagine!
And wonders or wonders, I went out dancing at the Chameleon Club with three of these girls last Friday. So that's progress, right? I danced lots and had some drinks and everything. Of course the drinks were necessary to beget the dancing, but that's neither here nor there. And I had fun, so whatevah.
Tomorrow I'll be at school from 8:15 to 5. Western Art from 8:15 to 9:45, and then 2-D Design from 10-5. Oy. I'm so very not looking forward to 2D, as I took that at LVC but dropped it like a hamburger because it annoyed the shit out of me. So wish me a class I can deal with, please. Because the class at LVC was only 4 hours; 6 hours of something like that and I may well take a flying leap over the brink of insanity.
I need to go get my stuff together for tomorrow and pack some semblance of a lunch. I tried coming home today, but there's just not enough time. I was a little late getting back to class, and I ended up eating leftover couscous because my potatoes weren't done in time. So I must concoct something microwaveable and tasty before hitting the sack this evening. Huzzah.
Adieu.
