the light at the end of the art slump
Adam asked me to draw him something tonight, so I started sketching while we were on the phone. Miraculously, something not entirely craptastic emerged. After I finished up some 2D homework I was working on, I scanned the sketch in and started playing around in Illustrator.
Actually, I fiddled around in Painter first. But Painter and I do not get along, mostly because I have no holy idea how to use it. So, Illustrator (aka Old Reliable) it was.
I've been working on it for maybe an hour and 15 minutes, and I'm almost done with the linework. Well, maybe 3/4 done. That's sort of almost. But the thing is... it doesn't suck. I actually like it. And the subject matter isn't the norm for me (there's a boy! and a tree! and not a sexy girly creature in sight!), which makes it doubly exciting.
I'm drawing! Yay!
(FYI: I've been in the biggest art-slump EVER for way too long now. Thus, excitement.)
But now my hand fingers are cramped up so badly that it's uncomfortable to stretch them out straight, so I'm going to bed. One day I will learn to loosen my grip on the pen. One day. Just not this day.
Ow. But yay!
