Spackle is the God Man (and one long ass survey)
Dude. I took the rest of my photos this afternoon, and then went in to develop them. After wrestling with the godawful steel reels for WAY too long, I got them both loaded (with Emily's help, 'cause she rules), and did the developing thing. Stinky chemicals, agitation, yada yada yada. The first roll came out fine. The second, however... was completely black. If you held it up to the light there was just the faintest ghost of an image, but it was by no means useable. I swear to god, I almost cried. SO frustrating. Now I have to reshoot that roll and develop it tomorrow afternoon and THEN go in and print contact sheets in the evening.
I can deal with that, though. What really gets me is that I don't know what the hell went wrong. Someone opened the door to the loading room a little while I was in there, but it didn't seem like enough to completely decimate the whole roll like that. Grr. Argh. GRRRRRR.
Anyway. I spent most of today with my hands covered in spackle. It was... interesting, if not the most rollicking good time I've ever had. I was reminded of kindergarden art projects, with the paste-like spackle and the leaf imprints and everything. But I don't have to come within ten feet of my ruling pen, so as far as I'm concerned spackle is my new messiah.
There's a nice interview with John Kerry in the new Rolling Stone. He's on the cover, too! Neat. You can read it here.
Now seriously, everyone's voting on Tuesday, right? Right? Because if we get sentenced to 4 more years of W's reign of ignorance and I find out that any one of you didn't vote, well... I will hunt you down and beat you about the head and shoulders until you DIE. I'm not kidding, folks.
Survey time! Stolen from Cassie, who stole it from someone else.
past 24 hours
01. cried: Almost, but no.
02. bought something: Um... lunch for Deb and I.
03. gotten sick: Nope.
04. sang: Certainly.
05. eaten: Dude, I hope so.
06. been kissed: Nah. Not 'til Friday.
07. felt stupid: This is a daily thing, really.
08. wanted to tell someone you loved them, but didn't: No.
09. met someone new: No.
10. moved on: From what? I got over the Death of my Photos, if that counts.
11. talk to an ex: I never talk to that fucktard.
12. missed an ex: See above re: ex.
13. talked to someone you have a crush on: I'm crush-less. Except for Cassie, 'cause really now, how can I resist her? She fucking hot.
14. had a serious talk: Not so much.
15. missed someone: Yeah, a lot.
16. hugged someone: Not today.
17. fought with your parents: I rarely fight with my parents. I didn't even talk to either of them today, actually.
18. dreamed about someone you can't be with: I don't remember what I dreamt about last night.
social life
01. best girl friend: Dude, I don't know. I gots me so many! It makes me confused.
02. best boy friend: Adam is my bestest friend, of course. Justin is the boy I talk to most down here, though.
03. boyfriend/girlfriend: Adam.
04. if no, current dating partner: See above re: boyfriend.
05. hobbies: art (duh), writing, playing guitar, obsessing over certain TV shows that shall remain nameless, cookin' up good stuff.
06. pager: Eh... no.
07. are you center of attention or the wallflower: The wallflower, as a rule. Sometimes I'd like to be the former.
08. what type automobile do you drive: An '86 Toyota Camry. It's maroon. And there's a stain on the front passenger seat from when I left a banana sitting in the sun all day. It's not my dream car (green VW bug, I'm looking at you!), but it gets me around.
09. what type automobile do you wish you drove: Geez. See above re: VW bug. The green one. I covet it with all of my shrivelled little heart.
10. would you rather be with friends or on a date: Well, Adam and I don't so much go on "dates" anymore as we just hang out, so the two often intersect. If you mean would I rather be with Adam or be with friends, then... well, sorry guys, but I gotta choose the boyfriend. None of you are sleeping with me, after all. Plus I see him so much less.
11. where is the best hangout: Around here it's Kirsten's place, or occasionally Starbucks. Wherever, really. It's more about the people than the place.
12. do you have a job: Noooo. Shut up.
13. do you attend church: I'm not a church-goer, no.
14. do you like being around people: Depends on the people. Just any old people? No, not really.
who
01. have you known the longest: Of my friends? Amanda, then Joe, then Adam, then all the awesome kids I met up here.
02. do you argue the most with: No one, really. Deb and I bitchfight sometimes.
03. do you always get along with: I don't always get along with anyone. I'm persnickety that way.
04. is the most trustworthy: Dude, that's a hard question. For me, probably Adam.
05. makes you laugh the most: Cassie. She's awesome.
06. has been there through all the hard times?: Um... Adam, I guess. Joe would be a contender as well.
07. has the coolest parents: Amanda's moms are pretty cool, as is Adam's dad.
08. has the scariest siblings: Joe. Or me, actually.
personal
01. who is your role model: I don't think I really have a role model.
02. what are some of your pet peeves: stupidity, right-wing Bushies, people who think they're soooo much cooler than everyone else.
03. have you ever liked someone you had no chance with: Hasn't everyone?
04. do you have a "type" of person you always go after: Well, considering my limited dating history of a two-faced douchebag, my gay best friend, and one very fabulous guitar-playing boy with puddle eyes... I don't have much to work from here. I definitely like the latter the best, though. And I tend to think skinny geek boys are cute. So I guess that's a "type" of sorts.
05. ever wanted to get revenge on someone because they hurt you: Um, yeah. Hell, I've wanted to get revenge on people who haven't done a damn thing to me personally. I'm just violent that way.
06. would you rather be dumper or dumped?: Neither, if I had my way. I've only ever been the dumped, though. It sucks.
07. rather have a relationship or a "hookup": Relationship. I'm way too emotionally involved for a hookup.
08. want someone you don't have right now: Nope! I've got the best boy ever - what's there to want?
09. do you want to get married: Eventually, I guess.
10. do you believe in psychics: Eh, that's iffy. To some degree, yes.
11. do you believe you know the person whom you will marry at this point in time: That's kind of a loaded question. I think I do, though.
12. what is your favorite part of your emotional being: WTF? It's all double-edged. The good stuff can be bad as well.
13. are you happy with you: Not so much.
14. are you happy with your life: Mostly.
20. if you could change something in your life right now, what would it be?: I'd have Adam here in Lancaster with me.
