"... and then someone can snort coke off your ass."
Ack, today was super busy. Except that it really wasn't. In retrospect it was actually a fairly slow day, but it left me frazzled anyway. Not sure why. Hrm.
Slept WAY too late, went walking around Duke and Queen Streets taking pictures, and then made it back to my car just as the sky broke open. I rained all day after that. In fact, it may still be raining now. And it's going to rain tomorrow, too! Man, this is some schizophrenic weather we're having lately. Anyway. Got back to my car, and drove the wee distance out to Rhubarb's Market, which is a fabulous natural food store. I got a whole bunch of grains (couscous, bulgur, millet) that I'm excited to try (the last two, I mean - I eat couscous all the time), a bag of whole wheat gobelleti (I think that's what it's called, anyway... neat swirly pasta tubes), and a little thing of vegetable bouillon powder. Good times. I am so never buying grains at Giant again - SO much cheaper at Rhubarb's.
Came home, putzed around for a while, and then headed down to school to develop film. Did that, then hung out with Cassie in the library for a while 'til it dried. The awesome part about going into school to do stuff outside of class is that someone I know is pretty much always there too. The whole crew, minus Deb, was actually there tonight. Justin, too. And Jay was working in the library, where he used his copier-fu to blow up a hilarious picture of Justin for Cassie. She's going to hang it in their kitchen and I think he might pee himself laughing when he sees it. Eventually I ended up back down in the darkroom to make contact sheets. Cassie kept me company. It was fun. We talked about random shit and laughed a lot, because she should totally pose as a dead hooker for me so I can slip those pictures in with my school stuff and be like, "Whoa, what are those doing there? Those are part of my personal collection. Ahem." And then when we left I scared Chris with my big pink technicolor eskimo coat, because it the giant fuzzy pink outerwear of DOOM.
Oh, and I totally want to smite this girl named Kristen who turned on the light outside of the little room I was loading my film in. There are now little light leaks all over one of the rolls, concentrated in the area of the one picture that I really wanted to use. SMITE.
But other than that, the time at school was fun. It should be pretty obvious by now that I have way too much fun at school. The people here rock. It's so bizarre, and I love it.
Cut to House of Pizza, and then Wal-Mart for entirely too long, and then home again, home again. Deb brought over my christmas presents early. She made this really cool photo thing that I love and have in my living room, and a shirt with "baby-kicker" on it, because that is totally what I do. Cassie and I both, actually. We're the scourge of babies everywhere. Mothers clutch their children to their breasts when we walk past. Talk about a power trip.
I think I've figured out what to make/buy for just about everyone on my very short list this year. It's short because I'm broke. Except that I'm not broke. I have money. It's just that pretty much every cent of it has to be set aside to pay rent and bills and buy food. It sucks, but that's how it is. As such, I am so not feeling christmas this year. I wish I could just skip it. No one get me anything, I don't get anyone anything. Just pretend christmas doesn't exist and transition directly from turkey to champagne and fat, sash-wearing babies. Blah. But I think I've got things mostly figured out, in any case. So that's good. I need to call the siblings and let them know that Dad's Christmas Cat is a go.
Speaking of cats, my mom called while I was at school and told me that Gizmo came home today. Holy crap. I almost cried right there in the library. She's been gone for, like, two months. Maybe more. I'd pretty much resigned myself to the fact that she was gone for good. Mom said she's extremely thin - thinner than last time this happened, and she was pretty fucking skinny then - but otherwise seems unhurt. She wrapped her up in a towel and dried her off (it's raining there, too) and then sat her down with a big bowl of food, which Giz proceeded to devour with heretofore unseen ferocity. I can only imagine. I want to try to take a trip home this weekend to see her, if I can. And also to do laundry, because I have no clean towels. But mostly to see my kitty.
Okay, this has gotten way too long. Sleep time, for I must get up in the morning and go to class. And then I just have to get through one more week before break. At which time angels will fill the sky and sing, for it will be a glorious day indeed. I am SO ready for three and a half weeks off. You have no idea.
