farewell, Evil Nazi Nose Stud of Death
So, by some miracle of god, I got to spend a bit of time with my mom today. Very surprising. We went to The Women's Center for Creative Expression in Harrisburg - interesting things. She bought me an awesome hat that makes me want to learn how to knit ASAP. I'd post pictures of it, but I don't have it right now, as it is a Christmas present. Soon, though. Four days. My mom gave me some money for last-minute shopping and gas and such, so tomorrow night I'm taking Adam to dinner, exchanging one of Joe's presents for something else, and possibly picking up a few new things. Yay! I love giving gifts. Amanda came over for a while tonight and we exchanged presents, because she's leaving on Friday and has a very busy schedule until then. She gave me a nose screw and homemade candy in an incredibly cute tin box with Kipper on it. Kipper is a children's book character, I think. The candy is yummy (and she said she'd give me more... drool), the box is adorable, and the nose screw is... well, it's good now. Getting it in was a very painful and blood-filled fiasco that I would prefer to avoid for the rest of eternity, but post-insertion, it's doing just fine. It's quite a bit larger than the stud I had in before, you see, and so in addition to the always unpleasant process of taking that one out, there was the new and almost more unpleasant process of putting the larger screw in.
Stretching a nose piercing: not recommended. Ever. The area around the hole was/is seriously bluish-purple, which goes very nicely with the reddish hue of inflammation that is currently coloring the rest of my right nostril. And I feel like I have a million giant boogers in my nose, only I don't. Fun! But it's still way better than the Evil Nazi Nose Stud of Death that I was wearing previously. Seriously, whoever designed that thing is the most horribly sadist ever. Observe:
The little ball on the bottom is the problem. It is larger than the post, and thus if I want to get the damn thing out of my nose I have to basically re-pierce the bottom and top holes. This is not fun. I am very grateful for my shiny new nose screw, which looks something like this:
Much better. It's not entirely comfortable yet, but I have been assured that the comfort will come with time.
Hrm. Other than Mom Time and Christmas presents with Amanda, there's not much else to report. I didn't get to see Adam tonight, which is sad, but I get to take him to dinner and stuff tomorrow, so it's all good.
Ooh! My dad found my tentacle! I thought it was lost forever. It was carved from a block of plaster during my sculpture class in high school, and I've always kind of liked it. My dad has had it for the longest time, but now it's back with me. Weee! I'll post pictures of that, also, when I find the digital camera.
I'm going to go beg/bribe/force Mason to let me use the scanner. Adieu.
