oh, the screaming boredom and hate...
Oh, today. What can I say about today? Well, let's see... it pretty much sucked. It was freezing cold and I had a painfully boring 8 o' clock English class followed by a few hours of wasted time and then an equally boring 4-hour studio art class at 1. I'm not sure how they get away with calling it a studio art class; all we did today, for 3 hours (we got out early) was position black paper circles on a sheet of white paper. He talked a bit about balance in compositions, negative space, "the power of the center," and such - all things that I do not need to learn AGAIN. I took one freaking drawing class in high school and it was quite enough to drill all this into my head, thanks. I'm sort of pissed, because I was really looking forward to this class. No longer, friends. I debated dropping it in favor of American Folklore, because Adam informs me that it's shaping up to be a very interesting class, but I'm reluctant to do that. I'll probably just stick with it and hope my brains don't start doing that unpleasant melting thing. I already ordered the second book online, anyway, so... yeah. Tomorrow I must venture to the college center bookstore and pick up the few supplies listed on the materials list that I don't already have.
Blah. I hate my classes. I thought I was going to have a fun semester, what with only taking four courses - two art-related, one music, and the dreaded English Communications II. Apparently I was very seriously mistaken. Global Popular Music has the potential to be interesting, but as of yet it seems kind of bland. English is going to be hell this semester - all of our papers are arguments in one way or another. And there's another oral presentation. I do not argue well. Debate and technical writing are not, in any universe, anywhere, my forte. And oral presentations give me hives. Two-Dimensional Design is four hours of rudimentary theory and cutting paper. Concepts in the Visual Arts... well, I haven't even had it yet, but I'm pretty sure it's going to suck beyond recognition. I'm optimistic like that.
On the upside, Dr. Pettice (my English prof) offered me a position as her assistant. Apparently I'm very attentive to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, which makes me a good assistant during a semester when she's teaching an editing class. Er... sure. It's always nice to be complimented on your writing by a Ph.D.
I'm going to go to bed before I fall asleep at my desk and drool all over the keyboard. 'Night.
