sitting in a pom-pom built for two
Ugh. I'm sick. It's very unpleasant. And my dog just puked in the hallway. I had to clean it up, of course, because who else ever gets stuck with vomit cleanup? It smelled horrible. There was grass in it. I kind of felt like vomiting myself.
I don't know when I caught this bug, but it's getting less and less fun every day. I mean, okay. It's June. You're not supposed to get sick in June. What is that? It's nearly summer. You're supposed to get sick when it's cold and dreary and curling up under the covers with hot tea and watching TV for hours on end is a perfect respite from the snow. You're NOT supposed to get sick when it's warm and sunny and a comforter is like suffocating and there's nothing good on TV because it's summer and that means re-runs galore. It's just not right, I tell you! It's an affront to nature.
And I've gotten sick way too often lately anyway. I hardly ever get sick... or at least I didn't before. But this last winter saw me snotty and congested at least two or three times. And now again, while we're just pushing summer. Maybe my immune system is failing. Maybe the swollen lymph node in my throat is really a tumor and I'm all cancer-ridden. Gah. Whatever it is, make it stop. I do not like feeling like my brain has turned to snot and is dribbling out through my nose.
Adam and I went to see the new Harry Potter this afternoon. It was good, of course, but felt very different than the previous two. I'm guessing the new director had something to do with that. I don't know, I mean... they left out a lot. It seemed shorter. And kind of disjointed, like the narrative flow was just hacked to bits. But it was still good, and I'll still buy it when it comes out on DVD. I love seeing it all onscreen, even if the specifics left something to be desired for me personally. They couldn't have chosen better actors to portray Harry, Ron, and Hermione - Ron in particular is exactly like I pictured him. Everyone is, pretty much. My little heart will break if they don't keep the same actors for all of the movies. Seriously, I hate it when they do that. I'd probably cry.
I'm very much looking forward to the fourth one. It may in fact be my favorite of the books so far, and I'm really itching to see it come to life. I do worry, though, about how condensed they may become. The books just keep getting longer, and since this movie was shorter than either of the others, well... eep. I hate it when stuff gets left out, 'cause it's usually all the stuff I really want to see.
The evening was spent curled up in the pom-pom chair watching Freeway. It was a little weird, because the pom is certainly not built for two, but we managed nicely. If you haven't seen Freeway, seriously, rent it. Now. Or just buy it; it's really cheap most places. So good.
Anyway... I'm losing the ability to form coherent thoughts. And I don't really feel like delving below the surface, emotion-wise, right now, so I'll leave it at this. New layout to come, whenever I get off my ass and put it together. It's SO time for change around this place.
