I'll take ten of everything, please. Please?
I ate too much junk food today. Many Wilbur Buds were consumed and I had a carb-tastic combination of spaghetti and a grilled cheese for dinner. If I ever tried to do the Atkin's Diet I'd go insane, eat the entire bread section of the supermarket, and then die.
Today was full of yarn. Yarn, yarn everywhere, but none of it mine. Adam and I went to The Colonial Yarn Shop this afternoon, in an attempt to procure size 1 double-pointed needles. All they had were bamboo ones, which are nice but too pricey for needles that I hate and will never use. Double-pointed needles are my ultimate knitting nemesis, you see. I despise them and avoid interacting with them as much as I possibly can. So it would be silly to spend $7.50 on a set of bamboo needles when I can just as easily pick up a pair of aluminum ones at Ben Franklin for $3.50. But of course I can't go into that place without being struck by the urge to pet every ball of yarn in the store, so we lingered for a while. It was beautiful and wonderful and oh-so-painful. The colors! The textures! And everything was on sale! But I didn't get any of the gorgeous things that I wanted, because I couldn't come up with a reasonable use for them. For once in my life I had to be practical, despite the surging desire to grab everything in sight and hoard it all in a corner like a pile of stuffed animals. I need help. Actually, no. I just need gift certificates to the various area yarn shops. Anyone willing to donate to the Keep Amanda Happy Via Copious Amounts of Spun Fiber Fund?
Kidding, kidding. Sort of.
I really want to make something other than a hat or a scarf. I want a big project, something I can wear and be proud of. I saw a gorgeous hooded sweater at the yarn store today, knit with seven balls of Sirdar Nova Super Chunky. It was soft and yummy and simple and I want to make it. Also, I bought some yarn to make Adam a hat - Mondial Merino Plus in a really nice cobalt blue color. There was a bag of 10 balls of the same yarn in a rusty color on display, and oh, the blood I would spill to wear something make with this stuff.
Okay, that's it. I really, really need a job, if for no other reason than to support my habit.
And speaking of habits that need supporting, my Gold membership needs to be renewed post haste. It expires in less than a week, I'm fairly sure. I also need to do something about my terrible space management skills, because I'm using up 96% of my allotted 5 megabytes and I'm just not comfortable with that. I need breathing room, dammit. I'd totally upgrade to a SuperGold membership if I had the cash, but once again I must say: "Alas."
Anyway, I'm off to work on and hopefully finish my lacey hat while watching whatever dreck is on television. Pictures to come when it's completed, along with pictures of my vibrator cozy (sans Hello Kitty head, unfortunately). Over and out.
