this entry was actually written at 11:23 p.m.
I opened this box about an hour ago, but I got distracted. Eep. My English conference thing went really well. Dr. Pettice is supra-nice (she's a Buffy fan! he he ya!), and she liked my essay. She liked my first essay, too, the short one. She even approved of my heavy use of parenthesis and amusing imagery, like the gouging of eyes with hot forks and such. Heh. The best thing about writing-intensive English classes is that I get to feel like I do something well.
I had stuff to say here, I really did. Sadly, it all seems to have flown off somewhere. Perhaps south, as winter is coming soon. I hate it when that happens. Speaking of flying south, I've been wondering lately what happens to the ducks in the Peace Garden when it gets cold. They can't fly, I don't think, because these bastards clipped their wings. (Grr!) Do they put them someplace? Like a duck kennel? Hmm. I'm going to tell myself that the ducks are taken to a posh duck mansion full of little heated ponds and flat-screen TVs with digital cable, where they can kick up their cute orange feet and relax during the cold winter months. And no one is going to contradict me, because then I would fall from my world of happy delusion and go on a bitter, bloody rampage, avenging all of the wrongs ever committed against our animal friends. So zip it, all of you, and just nod your heads and smile when I comment that the ducks must really be enjoying their live-in gourmet chef.
Ahem. Anyway. Why am I not tired? I've been up since 7:45, and I didn't go to bed last night until around 1. Weird. I should go to bed soon, in any case, because in about 7 hours the alarm will intrude upon my sleepy bliss and Grouchy McCrankyPants (me) will trudge out into the world of semi-meaningless academia. So... yes. G'night.
